Role Summary/Purpose: | In this role you will be responsible for oversight of the commercial certification program for new Advanced Turboprop Engine. You work directly with design and test engineers and with the FAA/EASA and their delegates to satisfy regulatory compliance. You will set priorities and establish team processes to ensure on time delivery of defined deliverables. As a most senior on Cert. Eng. team you will be required a comprehensive understanding of aviation turbine engine systems and their operation. |
Essential Responsibilities: | Position is open within the ATP Certification & Test team located at GE Aviation Czech in Prague. You will work with global and on-site certification, design and test teams. In your role you will: - Lead the certification team by directing tasks in line with the FAA/EASA and GE engine certification processes,
- Develop an overall engine certification master plan and checklist, including foreign validation, and manage performance to that plan,
- Integrate diverse government regulatory, R&D and customer requirements for complete coverage with no gaps acceptable,Delegate certification engineer assignments and provide cost/time estimates for the team,
- Prioritize certification team needs and commitments given limited resources, manpower availability, and needs of the master test and program schedules,
- Manage the sequence of deliverables (test plans, certification reports, manuals, responses, etc.) in a complex framework of prerequisites and dependencies,
- Research and present expert analysis on federal regulations, advisory circulars, acceptable means, special conditions, memos, agreements and precedents across a wide range of engineering topics,
- Identify gaps, overlap, risks and opportunities as the program proceeds, and advise management on opportune and corrective actions,
- Create test plan/report templates and enforce standards for engineering and certification deliverables,
- Directly author some certification deliverables/analyses,
- Review and edit engineering reports to ensure the scope is appropriate to the customer and the compliance case is sufficient for first time yield,
- Host multilateral reviews between engineering specialist(s) and the approving authority to defend the certification submittals and agree to revisions as needed,
- Assist the coordination between certification engineers, contributing design and test engineers, and regulatory compliance authorities,
- Audit the recording of official evidence of compliance in the appropriate GE and FAA libraries,
- Create clear, concise and accurate engineering documentation using MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint,
- Communicate the certification status accurately and regularly to program leadership and directly to the FAA/EASA/ODA,
- Represent the test team in support of various project groups.

Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelor/Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) from an accredited college,
- Experience with turbine engines, turboprop systems and engine components,
- Solid leadership skills,
- Strong problem solving, communication and presentation skills,
- Ability to work in a cross-functional matrix environment,
- Detailed knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint,
- Fluent communication in English is a must,
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, both locally and internationally.

Desired Characteristics: | - Diverse experience across engineering proficiencies is preferred (aerodynamics, mechanical, materials, software, systems integration, etc.),
- Experience with GE engine certification procedures,
- Experience with requirements and/or legal writing,
- Experience with FAA 14 CFR Part 33 and EASA CS-E regulations,
- Certified pilot or mechanic experience.
